How Is Nigerian Crude Oil Priced?
How Is Forcados Crude Oil Priced?
International physical crude transactions may use recognized benchmarks such as Brent together with an agreed differential or another contractual pricing mechanism. The actual pricing formula depends on the crude grade, transaction structure, pricing period and negotiated commercial terms.
The differential is not automatically a broker commission. It is part of the commercial pricing of the crude and can reflect market conditions, quality, timing, location and other factors.
Illustrative example only:
Benchmark: Brent — $80/bbl
Agreed differential: -$1/bbl
Illustrative crude price: $79/bbl
Any facilitation, brokerage or other commercial fee should be separately agreed and properly documented where applicable.

fraud warning
Beware of Fake Crude Oil Suppliers and Mandates
The international petroleum market attracts fraudulent offers, fake mandates, impersonation and unrealistic pricing claims. Buyers should be cautious of pressure to make upfront payments, unverifiable corporate identities, unexplained fees and offers that cannot be independently supported.
Never rely solely on a document because it carries a company logo, stamp or signature. Proper verification is essential.
